Queens Mental Health Council's Legislative Breakfast

The Queens Mental Health Council (QMHC) honored members of City and State government with awards in a breakfast held March 7, 2002 at Holliswood Hospital. Moderated by Joan Serrano Laufer, awardees included: Queens Borough President Helen Marshal represented by Ricardo Fernandez; State Senator Daniel Hevesi represented by Dalia Shapiro; Councilman Tony Avella represented by Seth Urbinder and; Councilman Leroy Comrie represented by Margaret Denson.

Speakers included Deputy Commissioner Elsie Del Campo, New York State Office of Mental Health's Regional Office Director Joe Lazar, QMHC Chair Nat Etrog, and QMHC member Jerry Simmons. Presentations were made by Precious Carty and Art Griffin.

The Queens Mental Health Council is a group of consumers, service providers, family members, government employees and others who share a concern for the needs of people living with mental illness and meets at Holliswood Hospital the first Thursday of every month. For more info (212) 219-5508.
