Information for Consumers Who Want to Work
A New Program Called Brooklyn Works Here to Help
Linda Speaker
I work for Brooklyn Works. We are a program funded by the social security administration (SSA) to provide free benefits advisement services for people with disabilities who are considering going back to work. We provide information regarding SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, Food Stamps and Housing. We enable the consumer to make a wise decision based on the information they are given. There is no pressure to do anything. There are many work incentives out there for SSI and SSDI recipients, which include the Ticket to Work. Please feel free to ask us.
Who are the people of Brooklyn Works?
There are four of us, all trained by Cornell University. We specifically deal with work incentives provided by the SSA. We work together to get the job done. There is always someone here to assist you. When the situation is difficult, we share our resources and knowledge, so that the answer we provide our clients is correct. This is why we have a reputation for being on top of things. We answer all questions in a timely fashion. We also have printed flyers given upon request. These flyers are in three languages-English, Spanish and Russian-for adults and transitional youth. If you wish to contact us, our names and telephone numbers are:
