Peer Employees Enjoy a Picnic in the Sun
Baltic Street Mental Health Board provides community
Daniel S. Frey, Editor in Chief
It is a tradition at the Baltic Street Mental Health Board, Inc., New York City’s largest employer of people with mental illness, to have an annual picnic for its 100 or so employees.
The agency goes all out with its events to make sure its employees are well fed and having a good time with sports, arts and crafts, games and friends.
Baltic Street provides consumers with paid work as advocates, counselors, employment specialists, program directors, event planners, and housing specialists in its mission to improve the lives of people living with mental illness in New York City.
The annual picnic, the parties and other events that Baltic Street sponsors helps its employees by encouraging healthy fun, friendship, and a strong sense of community that is vital for consumers to recover from the alienation of mental illness.
